Meet the new candidate PR and Promotion – Elke Riemens
Hi! My name is Elke Riemens and this upcoming year I will be taking on the role of PR & Promotion within the MARUG board. I am 19 years old and have been living in Groningen for a year now. I am currently in my second year of studying Business Administration at the University of Groningen.
I originally come from Eelde, but I wanted to experience student life in the city. I have played hockey my entire life in Eelde and I hope to find a team here in Groningen as well. Besides that, I love spending time with my housemates and friends in the city.
This past year, I was part of the MARUG Promotion and Activities Committee (PAC). It was not only a lot of fun working with the committee members, but also a great way to contribute to MARUG. Through this experience, I got to know the association better and realized I definitely didn’t want to miss the opportunity to apply for the board!
Working with the PR & Promotion team during my committee year made me realize that marketing is something I am really interested in. In this board position, I look forward to developing this interest further and meeting many different companies to help me explore potential career paths — something I am still figuring out! When I found out I had been selected for PR & Promotion, I was super excited, because this means a year full of fun, new experiences, and personal growth.
